| Building Partnerships through an Integrated Workforce System for ITP Success | Either | 1 hour | Yes | Partnerships | Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs) face unique challenges when re-entering the workforce in the US. Language proficiency, non-recognition of credentials, and lack of social capital may seem to top the list of obstacles that may hold them back. However, if not well-coordinated and nurtured, the workforce ecosystem itself, AEL providers, employers, and Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDBs), may create even greater barriers for ITPs. This session will investigate how to build relationships with AEL providers, local employers, and LWDBs through continual communication, intentional collaboration, and community-building across the workforce systems. We will explore best practices for ensuring internationally trained professionals thrive in today’s American workplace no matter where they engage in the workforce system. Objectives: Identify and define key stakeholders of the workforce ecosystem. Examine best practices for supporting ITPs at each stakeholder level. |
